A new academic year
will start in September, which will become an opportunity for the new issue of
the ecclesiological and canonical magazine “Methron”. On occasion of its
eleventh anniversary, this yearbook will come out in a yellow cover. It is a
sign of hope and optimism that “Methron” is not the only one that survives
among all theological journals in Ukraine! The ones who are convinced in the
need for the development of Ukrainian theological scholarship would probably
buy “Methron” to read interesting articles and enrich their minds. This also
will be a civil step to support labor of idealists, who work without a separate
financial or institutional support.
Articles under the cover of issue 10-11 (2013-2014) of Metron expand our
understanding of the
Church. Over and above defining and structuring the life of the Church, the Church Law should give courage to both the
laity and the clergy to explore new ways of
communicating with God and people. The Church being a complex body of
believers, the
unified understanding of such notions as “diaspora”, “pan-Orthodox council”, “authonomy”, or “local Church” is crucial
for mutual understanding within the Church. These notions are considered from various
perspectives and in various ecclesiastical and cultural contexts, providing an opportunity
to contrast diverse interpretations and to seek common
ground among them. The variety of topics covered in the articles include the questions of marriage, ecumenism,
particular Church Law, etc.
The main editor of Metron is
Mychajlo Dymyd. The topics of issue are: Diaspora, UGCC, Eastern Churches,
Filioque, particular law in the locak Chuch. Authors are Maxim Hermanyuk.
